Has anyone experienced problems with running videos on media player - which may have been realted to viruses attacking dll files? If so, could you recommend a fix for this?

Thanks you, guys.

99% of all Vid problems have nothing to do with viruses
and everything to do with codex's

I'm not going to go into details as to why so many diffrent codex's there are but trust me there are a lot of them and media player doesnt have them...feel free to google the topic codex on your own...

so here's my fix and I'm sure other have theirs
but I know mine works
gret VLC player from this site and install
it's free so dont stress on it
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

After you do that go here and get the codex pack K-Lite Codec Pack 2.77 Full
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
this is free too

Okay the proper way to do this is Download and install players first then install the codex pack. Klite will also remove any bad codex you have that could be causing problems too...

if later you add a new player you'll want to go back to the codex site look for a more recent version and update it...

Now between the two player you can now open and watch everything the standard avi's mpg4 ect...
the VLC player lets you into the pro stuff bin cue, ogm, mkv vcd...
as well as all the stuff Media player does...happy watching

If you suspect a virus has caused the damage you mentioned it is important you first use an excellant virus tool to remove any traces of viruses from your system. Then, once your system is clean, you will need to remove any software program and/or file you think the virus currupted while in your system, then re-install the program(s) and recreate the video/music files on your system. I am sorry it is such a hassle, but this is the only way to be sure your software programs and files are free from curruption and will work properly again. Once you get this done, make sure you install and keep updated a really good Security Suite. There are some good ones out there, AVG, Panda etc. I myself use and love Panda, but each of us must use what we like individually.

I know this is a hassle, but it really IS the only method of ensurring you have a clean system, uncurrupt programs and files. Once you do all this all should work fine again.

Good luck and have a nice day! :-)

you could try to run the ewido online anti-malware scanner tool...that will not repair damaged .dlls but it may clean something off of there.
- i do not have a link to it, but i've had good luck with VLC Media player-i found it on Cnet.com
good luck!

get an anti-virus program to clean up your computer (norton, mcafee, or Panda are all good ones...and Panda is free), then download and reinstall media player
