Can't they just remove the adhesions? That's the first thing they should try:
"Surgical treatment is usually a good choice if endometriosis is extensive, or very painful. Surgical treatments range from minor to major surgical procedures.
"Laparoscopy is very useful not only to diagnose endometriosis, but to treat it. With the use of scissors, cautery, lasers, hydrodissection, or a sonic scalpel, endometriotic tissue can be ablated or removed in an attempt to restore normal anatomy.
Laparotomy can be used for more extensive surgery either in attempt to restore normal anatomy, or at least preserve reproductive potential.
The definitive treatment for endometriosis is a total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingoophorectomy
For patients with extreme pain, a presacral neurectomy may be indicated where the nerves to the uterus are cut."

I don't have endometriosis, but I thought I might at one point and did some research. I think that taking birth control pills can really help with the symptoms, and might have fewer side effects than the shot (I've not heard of this shot). If you do need the shot, ask your doctor what you can do to minimize the side effects - for example, I think weight-bearing exercise would reduce bone loss. I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with this... best of luck to you.

A friend of mine had endometriosis so bad she had to have a hysterectomy when she was 27. They tried everything...surgery was the last resort. Fortunately she had 2 children before her problems got severe. She didn't have a lot of problems because they left her ovaries.
I pray that everything works out for you.

First, you do not want a hysterectomy at your age. Second, see a natropath regarding your condition. There are some natural things that can help also. I would check into all of that first, before surgery or shots with side effects.

The Atkins Institute has a method for treating Endometriosis that they claim enjoys a significant rate of good results. It is described in Dr Atkins' Health Revolution (available on Alibris.com). It does not involve surgery.
Good luck!
