There are several options.
Lower end of strip prices try the Sahara, Riviera, Frontier, Imperial Palace or Circus Circus,
Intermediate Stratosphere, Flamingo, Tropicana, Ballys or Excalibur.
Upper New York New York, MGM, Treasure Island, Caesar's Palace, Luxor and Monte Carlo
Elite Bellagio, Wynn, Mirage, Mandalay Bay, and Venetian
There are others also. I go to Vegas every year but no longer stay on the Strip. I prefer The Orleans it is about 2 miles from Strip on Tropicana. The rates are better and we always get treated very well. I hope this helps.
http://www.vegasfreedom.com is an excellent source for all things Vegas.

There is a great website www.vegas4visitors.com It has links to all of the major strip hotels and those sites often have Internet specials. That said, weekends ARE always more expensive. Try Excalibur first. Personally, I think it's a crappy hotel, but you could do a HELL of a lot worse AND it's on the more desirable south end of the strip.

Weekends are insanely expensive on the strip (although it does depend on the date). The dates you are planning on are not good ones for someone on a budget (who wants to stay at a strip hotel).
Go to www.harrahs.com and look up the hot deals for the various hotels they own on the strip. It shows you a calendar with the best prices. You can save hundreds of dollars if you are just a tiny bit flexible with the dates you plan to stay.

When I went to Vegas I stayed at the Mandalay Bay. That was an awesome hotel but I think it was expensive. Company payed so I don't know for sure. We stayed 3 nights and I think the bill was six hundred something. When I was there i did see a motel across the street that looked really cheap. Maybe if you call the Mandalay Bay and ask for the name of the motel across the street then you can call them.

Cutting it way to close to get anything cheap unless go Excalibur or Circus Circus.. No reason to stay on Strip at all but it is your $$ being wasted vs Downtown or Sams Town or the like.

Circus Circus is good, if your a history buff you might try to stay at the Stardust if it is not already closed there tearing down shortly. All the less expensive places are being tore down to build high dollar places. If your not dead set on the strip, stay downtown, everything is cheaper, people are nicer and there is a friendlier atmosphere.

EXCALIBUR! It's cheap, it's on the strip, and the rooms are clean. You might get a good rate for Sahara/Circus Circus, but it's a long to the center of the strip. Use Orbitz to search. My friend and I only paid 95 bucks (we split and it only cost us 48 each) for a room with 2 queen beds.

You should be able to find something. Generally, I would say to use expedia or something like that. You can stay at most of the major hotels for that... if you plan in advance... like uh... now. ;)
The Excalibur, Luxor, Mirage, or MGM Grand, will be your best bets. You will be centrally located and be able to make the most of the visit. :)
Good luck.. Happy hunting!

Weekends are expensive, but try the Flamingo Hilton or Harris
Maybe you can find a discounted rate through sidestep.com or one of the hotel websites

If your just looking for place to crash then try the excalibur. The rooms are very simple and cheap. We go once a year and thats where we stay.
