The basis for how Republicans see Education is Standardized Tests. They feel that they can create these tests through the results know how well a school is performing. Unfortunately that isn't the case. Many who are bad with tests can be very good at practical applications while many who are great with tests can be poor at practical applications. On top of that, in Elementary School especially the teachers are forced to spend more time focusing their teaching on how to properly take a test and the best ways to succeed, rather than on the subjects that are being learned. Also, if you look at Standardized Tests in say Texas, they are much easier than they are in Michigan or other States. And President Bush's No Child Left Behind act takes away money from School Districts that don't perform as well on these Tests, meaning that schools with better resources get better grades and in turn more money to buy even better resources, while the inner city schools that are struggling with money and can't afford the best resources get poorer scores and have even more money taken away.

It seems apparent that the current cUrriculum is teaching nucular warfare.

The solution is to change the system. Stop throwing money at a broken system.
