One soap on TV is too many.

They should bin them all and replace them with sport or Sci-Fi

They need to fill the schedules with something. Soap can be excellent drama if it's well written and acted, it doesn't always have to be expensive. Ratings chasers like Eastenders and Emmerdale are a waste of time, because the storylines are ridiculous, but some of the less showy things like Doctors on daytime BBC are not bad at all.

Yes there are too many soaps on TV. Worst offender is Coronation Street. Soaps are so over-hyped in the media.

No, not really!! About 20 years ago there were about 14-15 soaps on per day! I know, I used to watch them all!!!!!

Frank Lloyd Wright once said 'Television is chewing gum for the mind.' So presumably soap operas are the tooth decay.

I think you mean "Are there too many...".
I never watch them. I used to enjoy Eastenders until all the storylines started to appear in magazines weeks in advance. There is no point in watching if you already know what happens.
