You can actually do either but if you bring it inside put it in an Easterns or Southern window and don't water it too much. Good Luck

I live in Texas (Southwest) and have a large bed of hen and chicks planted directly in my outdoor flowerbed. If the forecast is 32 degrees or lower, I cover the entire bed with winter freeze cloth. I haven't lost a plant yet.

My Hen & Chicks make it through the winter here in Utah. If you think yours won't make it I would advise you to bring the pot in, wash everything off and put it in a bright window and don't water it much.

I have one and leave it outside all year round and have never had any problems with it. But, I also live in the Pacific NW and rarely do we have more than a couple of days in the winter where the temperature does not at least reach freezing.

That would depend on where you live, it doesn't go below freezing here for more than a few weeks and my plants do just fine outside, in fact they grow like crazy all summer long.
They have been outside for 3 years now and no problems.

They do not have be taken in for the winter. I live in the northern part of the Mid-east and these things have survived some pretty fierce winters.

it truly is contained in the Succulent kin as Cacti are. In doors they choose good effortless, potted in a properly drained soil and month-to-month fertilizing in the course of the starting to be season. Out doors in maximum any section on condition that you aren't any more in a freezing zone.
