It just seems to have gotten terrible:

Examples -
Yung Joc
Chaing Hang Low
Showstopper (she has a good voice, but what stupid lyrics)
Nelly Furtado (HAD a good voice)
London Bridge
Blue October
Shoulder Lean
Sexy Back
Nickelback (so overplayed)
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

It just seems like there is very little good new music. Am I wrong?

I know it is probably due to the fact that I'm older, I have a family to support and I just don't have the time...but I recognized only two of those names on your list and could not tell you to save my life what they sound like or the names of their songs.

But, I do agree with you.
What I've heard on the radio for the past ten+ years has been a bunch of boring, repetitive crap.
A lot of remakes of old music and what is new isn't that exciting.

Probably why I tuned into world music just to hear something different.

Yes i would agree i like music from the 80's and 90's there does'nt seem to be many new great bands/artists coming onto the scene in the last few years (except Coldplay,Christana Aguliera, Pink, Norah Jones) most of it is aimed at he teenies with rap etc (how can you tell i never really liked rap much).

The music of the 80's was very throwaway i could remember most of the lyrics and were always catchy. Its funny how these bands of the 80's still keep going and still get quite a following Pet Shop Boys, U2, Depeche Mode and Madonna still sell a few records.

Im over 30 so is it because i was a teenager growing up listening to this i dunno.

Just like most things in pop culture music has to be dumbed down to sell.If you think about it you might not buy. It's just like candy,It's meant to be short and sweet with no guilt. If an artist looks good that's good enough. We have turned our music into background noise.Something to drive to.Other cultures in the past have used music to help them define their existence. We on the other hand could care less about ours.I can not understand this deal with the chains and the diamond teeth and the big chested whores that dance in the videos. It's filth.

Yea man I definatley feel you on dat. Its got so bad wit dis new **** on da radio I dont even listen to the radio nomore. This new **** makes me sick. Yung Joc, Young Dro, D4L, Jibbs, Purple Ribbon Army, they are all garbage. Seems like nowadays they just let any ol body make a song and it becomes a ONE-time hit. I only listen to REAL music, from back in da day. So this is what u should do, download LimeWire and then download all da songs u like and put them on ya iPod and cds. So u dont have to listen to this new **** nomore. If u need to find some songs u like try this, go to www.cduniverse.com and listen to songs from cds made before dis new **** came out, like around 96' and 97', back when Pac was living. When u find some **** u like, just add them to ya collection. Thats what I do, and it works!

This means you're getting old. Past times tend to look better from a distance... but crappy music has been around ever since it was invented. Remember the "monkees"? How about "bannanarama" or Chris Isaac? Bryan Adams? and it also depends on your particular taste... Tchaikovski sounds like crap to me when compared to Mahler, Wagner or Mozart. But that is just my opinion, man.

Yeah you're right.
90% of nowadays music is simply Crap!
I think two things have caused the death of music, especially Rock & metal:
1 Death of Freddie Mercury
2 Death of Kurt Cobain
