I'm shocked they didn't give you a date too. When I was pregnant my Dr would only induce if I had a favorable cervix, maybe that is what your Dr is looking for.
Good luck!

36 weeks is safe, but I believe most doctors like to wait until your 37 weeks or more. If you have problems though , then the doctor could usually get you started on steroid shots for 3 days and that helps to develop the babies lungs just in case they arent fully developed. Then induce you and all would be fine. I was induced with my 2nd a week before I was due and I had my 3rd when I was 34 weeks and I did steroid shots for 3 days, went into labor and he was 5 lbs and 2 oz and we went home 2 days later. He was very healthy.

they usually try to wait until 38 weeks because then the lungs should be developed pretty well. Your doctor my do a ultra sound at 37 to see how well the lungs have matured if they have matured then he will probably go ahead and induce you. But let me tell you from experience if you could hold off and have it when it is ready then you will be better off because once you are induced you can not get up for long periods just to go potty and that's it, but if they break your water you can not get up at all because of the fear of the cord droping down. And it is more painful, but if you need to induce because of your health or the baby's health 38 weeks is propably the best. I was induced at 38.

with my first child they induced at 36 weeks. with my second, they induced at 41. then with my third i went into labor by myslef at 39 weeks. i would think that at 36 weeks you are inducable. especially if you have problems during your pregnancy. its all up to the dr. i guess. but they cant wait any longer than 41 weeks because then the chances youll have a still born go way way way up. so i know you are miserable but you only have a few weeks left!!! youve made it this far so hang in there. i know exactly what you are going through!!!!

I am suprised they didn't give you a date and tell you to choose the date you wanted after that. I talked to my doctor earlier this week about inducing (for different reasons) and he told me any day after October 21st, that's not far after my 37th week. I believe 37 or 38 weeks is preferable, so the baby's lungs are fully developed.

it would be anytime after 37 weeks anytime before that they consider life threatening to the child as the chance of survival goes up the longer you are preg. wait a week and ask your dr. agin.

becuase of the high blood pressure and asthma they may induce you, but I dont think now. Your babies lungs are probably not fully developed.

you ought to be flat on your back in hospital to ensure that your medical issues are watched closely; the date of induction would depend to some extent on what is happening to your body.
