I recieved something in the mail the top of the page says Horizon lotto E-Payment inc.. Have you heard of this company?
Ok, they say its from publishers clearing house and i am the monthly winner of 50,000 dollars. They sent me a check saying to deposit the check and send that money for processing of fees and international taxes. Now my question is has anyone recieved one of these and do you think it is legit?

This is a scam, throw the letter away and forget about it.

Thousands of people have fallen for this one from a lot of different companies. The check will temporarily clear (1-2 days) then it will bounce and your bank will deduct the entire check from your account. So if you sent them any of the money you it will cost you the money you sent them and any bounced check fees if you overdraw your account.

You will NEVER be asked to deposit a partial payment and then send money back to a legitimate lottery or sweepstakes, the processing fees/taxes will be taken care of before you ever see a dime.

There are scammers everywhere, don't be scammed!

Yes I did . I called not only the phone number of the company that said i won but called information and got the # of the company that so called wrote the check. Its a fraud . Think about it why wouldnt they just clear the check for you. the fake lotto co. wants YOU to cash the check so it can be traced back to you, then you send the cash money gram in a legit form for them . you either get in trouble or have to pay the money back.

Scam..none of these companies are legit.

If you truly are a winner then there would be no fees because it is illegal in the US to charge someone fees for a contest. They have to be open to all regardless of their financial situation

I called the bank that supposedly issued the check. It is a fraud. They told me not to deposit it. They know all about the fraud. I also called the # on the letter and the guy on the other end was very shady. He wanted my phone # to call me back. When I wouldn't give it to him he hung up on me.

My guess is that the check is fake, and they are hoping you'll send them $ before you discover that fact. Beware of anyone who tells you that you've won something, then asks for money.

tear it up and throw it out. it's a come on, they make you a loan and charge you 20% + in fees and you're out $$$ for them loaning you $ plus you have to pay interrest. just get a loan at the bank if you need $.
