With a constraint on money $10,000, you will not be able to afford a brand new Toyota or BMW. Leaving the only choice of buying a used car, toyota would be a better choice.
You will be spending lot of money on maintenance cost for a used BMW, although it gives you a status and an ultimate driving experience. You will save a lot of money on maintenance for a Toyota, but not the the status and ultimate driving experience.
Its totally upto you to decide on that.
I assume that you are comparing a Camry with 3 Series.

Let's not even talk about which is better, Toyota or BMW. Let's just talk about what you can afford. 10k means you can get a 2-3 year old Toyota or a 8-10 year old BMW. It doesn't matter how much better a BMW is. A car that is more than 3 times older than another car is gonna be less reliable and cost more to maintain.

well, obviouslt BMW is better, but the cost to repair them is alot higher, usually only a BMW certified mechanic will do it, and they can be pricey. Now, with the price range you have, you'll get a good car with either brand you get, but, the car will brake (that's what they do) so, definately figure in repair cost when you buy. BMW is nice, flashy, German made, you can rack up really high miles on them, like 200k-300k easily, Toyota is great too, Japanese, well made, high resale value, but, probably cheaper parts and labor for certain, unless you are loaded, the most sensible is Toyota, check out a Corolla S, or a Camry LE/XE version.

Neither. Both have high cost to repair from expensive parts, but BMWs break down a lot more often than Toyota. Consider this. BMWs are on average more unreliable than American cars, which you seem to be bent on avoiding.

Depends on what your car is for. BMW gives you higher status. Toyota is more reliable and lower cost to maintain.

Both my husband and I drive BMW. We love them and won't drive anything else. They're very comfortable and designed well. Other cars don't seem to drive as nice or handle as well. The only problem is they take premium gas and parts and repairs are more expensive. We still think its worth it, though.
