no.. maybe not.... but what should happen is this.... while they are mining.... some text comes up at the bottom of the screen saying 'mimed song' or the presenter sais and here is kylie miming her latest single etc etc

that will shame them into not doing it ;)
cos its soooo boring

Definitely. I notice this particularly on things like Songs Of Praise where the accoustics and sound perspective of a song sung by a solo artist just don't match the picture. It looks so artificial. Having worked in the media for many years as a tv cameraman, I know the reasons why they do it and the pitfalls, particularly of trying to get perfect lip sync. Sadly however, often there seems to be no other way of working to produce the shots and sound that they want.

I dont have a problem if people mime on TV, a live performance on the other hand should not be mimed

I do not think it should be banned, but I think it does take away the 'magic' of singing to an audience, especially if the miming is badly done!

Well I personally think that singing live should be in the job description and that you should definatly not mime when your doing it for a charity or something...

i think thatlike so many other things that its a good idea in theory. i just cant help thinking about Jordan's pop comeback though and that maybe for this reason its probably a good idea that we keep letting pop 'stars' mime

Look man, on TV there can be a lot of technical issues that sometimes lip sync is preffered. You'll know who is really tallented and who's not when you'll see them in concert.
