Slash's solo in Sweet Child of Mine I believe is the greatest guitar solo ever. Acoustically, I also enjoy his solo in the middle of the song "Patience."

Of those two, Sweet Child of Mine. My own choice? Boston,
Foreplay/Long Time. Tom Scholz is a kick-azz guitar player, make no mistake!! Oh, & Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty - the sax is great, but there's a great solo in the middle . . .
p.s. - agree with Red1 - thought about the Van Halen solo from their first album but couldn't remember the name of it!!

It's neither of those. The best, and still a world record, is "Eruption" by Van Halen on their first album. It was Eddie Van Halen at his very best. I've heard nothing better.
