I don't want to stereotype because I know that not ALL lawyers are bad.
However, I think the vast majority of lawyers are scum-sucking leeches and the bane of humanity and represent everything that's wrong with America.
Why do so many people want to be lawyers?

I think you're implying that people who want to be lawyers want to be "scum sucking leeches" but the truth is that a lot of people go to law school because they are interested in helping people and making a difference.
So what goes wrong? Law school is ridiculously competitive and demands so much of a person. It has a definite influence on your personality. Additionally, the profession's ethics rules mandate that lawyers conduct themselves in a specific way. So while lots of attorneys might wish to do what they believe is the right thing, the ethics code prohibits them from doing it.
Some lawyers probably are "leeches," but I find the vast majority of them are well-intentioned. Unfortunately, the entire profession is woefully misunderstood.

I know some lawyers who are only out to make a buck
but then there are others that realize the power that the study of law brings
some just like being able to help people

Everyone hates lawyers until something happens to them and they need one! Many people want to be lawyers because they will usually have career security, they will never be outsourced or replaced by a computer, and many are well paid.

People want to be lawyers so that they can continue to suck the money out of the rest of the people. Leeches are getting a bad rap here since we all know leeches suck blood while lawyers will go beyond that.

Layers are like all kind of professionals, there are good and bad ones, I couldnt be a layer, I think that deffending criminals its the worst thing in that profession but some of then like it so those that want to be a layer arent looking for justice and make a better world they just want... money.

I work for lawyers.. they are good people and treat me wonderful. Honest and hard working.
