yes you can take a bus from Puduraya - KL where it take about 4 to 5 hours to reach Tanah Rata, alternatively train from KL do stop at Tapah [ the town nearest to Cameron Highland ] n you have to get another bus or taxi to go up there, so just a single bus journey [ from KL ] should be a better choice !
but if you are not in a hurry then train should offer some wonderful country side scenery that you may wanted to savour though it may drag your traveling time a little longer

The best way is to take coach shuttle bus to Cameron Highland. There's no train service to Cameron, but if you love adventure, u may ride a bicycle top of the hill, where i feel not bad, isn't it?

You could take a direct bus from Cameron Highland early in the morning to KL-Puduraya. Takes 5 hours or so.
Train is so slow.
