John Herschel Glenn Jr. travelled to space twice.
The first time for Project Mercury, on mission Mercury-Atlas 6 (Friendship 7), in 1962, in which he was the first American in orbit.
Glenn's second time in space was in mission STS-95 (Space Shuttle Discovery), in 1998, and this time, he was the oldest man to go to space.

Once, on February 20, 1962, when he became the first American to orbit the earth.
The second time was on October 29 1998, aboard the space shuttle Discovery.
