My understanding of authenticity is woven into existentialism and the human being honest with themself and understanding their lack of meaning...it lacks pretense or social constraints.
So for someone to live authentically I guess it would mean not living in a way that society tells you is right or wrong, but living in a way you believe is right for you.
The people we most note doing this are the ones who do it loudly...not marrying because that is an establishment, or marrying in the same sex because that is how they feel, the artists who starve, the rude John the Baptists telling us how it is to the point we want their heads on platters.
For me, being authentic, is being honest with myself and those who know me. It's also being accepting of those I meet...as long as they don't impose their viewpoint on me and ridicule me for feeling different...they have my respect.
I don't know, we all look at the world differently and I understand that part of my perspective was maybe indoctrinated...but it doesn't make my belief less real. I am quite consumed by the fact that I will make little impact, and yet I don't want to quit trying to make it better.

Authentic living, huh? Well, it's our natural ability to make due with whatever resources we're given in our original state...before money started growing out of peoples' a.sses! I think it's not being superficial or buying your friends.
