please define minorities
if ur talking about other religions than Islam, u have to come here to see how Muslims and christians live in harmony, brothers and sisters, no fighting at all, and no discrimination either.
but about gays and lesbians, Egypt doesnt protect them as we dont have many of them here, and if there are any, they dont ask for any kind of protection because they dont come out in the first place because of our traditions.

Ok here u go an answer from someone who can be classified as a member of a minority community.
There are arbitary laws, it is called the emergency law and it is designed to protect the people from terrorism. Egypt suffered a lot during the early 90's from terrorist attacks, way before the west even experienced any and these laws were put in place to help get rid of it fast and effecinently. The law is very much like a lot of laws implemented in the west such as the terrorism act in Britain and wire tapping in the US. I guess in this day and age governments are suppressing freedom for the sake of security.
The emergency law does not discriminate, all people are equal, actually the muslim majority suffer most from it.
As for your second point, there is discrimination. Not as bad as you hear in the media but it happens. It is not a big deal and people live with it. Discrimination has always been present and I bet you, it is everywhere.

ABSOLUTELY. Most immigrants from Egypt and similar countries belong to "minorities".
