Try and Chinchilla instead! Get a baby that you can hand hold a lot and they will grow to get used to handling. We love ours and they are super soft and quite intelligent. They can be trained to use a litter box!

there is a hamster that can't bite due to the structure of its jaw. i can't ink of the name right now-maybe the dwarf hamster??-i know it is a smaller breed. if you ask an actual pet shop wih knowledgeable people that specialize in different rodents--not petco or petsmart-they can help you. mice and rats can and do bite though. if you can't find the breed i mentioned just pick out one that seems somewhat calm and be sure to handle it a lot and it hould stay friendly.

give up on the hamsters sooner or later they always get around to biting you ... i never had a problem with mice and rats if they are handled regularly ..theyre just smarter than hamsters imo.

Whatever you do NEVER get a Dwarf Hamster!! They are the most aggressive of the bunch & they take a long time to acclimate to being handled.
