I say they are permitted to lie when they twist the truth to their advantage, or that the truth is twisted to the point that it's nothing similar to what was originally said by the parents. in those cases, and especially when the judge goes along with whatevr cps or the social worker says, then yes, the judge is permitting them to lie!

They are not "permitted" to lie but they will take what a person says and twist it to the way they want it. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY IN FRONT OF A SOCIAL WORKER. I can testify to this. I had guardianship of a grand-daughter, she decided she didn't like living with us or our rules. A friend of hers at school told her how great it was in foster care and what to tell CPS in order to get out of our house. Social worker investingated and found ALL allegations UNFOUNDED, but removed her at her request. When I saw report to the court I found SO MANY FALSEHOODS AND ERRORS and even told attorney. They didn't care. The attorneys they appointed for me and my wife were worthless and didn't even fight, argue or care about/for us. All they did was tell us to go along with whatever the court wanted/said and don't argue. I even contacted our County Council about getting some help, but have never even heard back from them, and it has been about a year now.
Because of "PRIVACY LAWS" even County Council CAN NOT get info from Social Services. Social Services does NOT HAVE ANY OVERSIGHT. I hear so many of those people saying that they "DO WHATS BEST IN THE INTEREST OF THE CHILD", but that is the biggest CROCK I have ever heard. Her bahaviour and attitude have gotten worse ever since. On the court papers it said the only reason for her to be removed was that we were unable/unwilling to care for her, but thye wanted us to take certain classes anyway for us to get her back. We were GUILTY before we even went to court, we just couldn't figure out what we were guilty of.
Sorry this turned out longer than I planned, but wanted to give some background for my thoughts.

Anytime Child Protective Services has to get involved, the courts are going to believe the social workers over the parents because the parents already have one strike against them -- the fact that CPS had to get involved in the first place -- and also because there is a presumption of integrity on the part of the social worker because they do have to go through a pretty rigorous background check to get the job. I'm not saying social workers don't lie, but as someone who has a background in litigation I can tell you that I would trust the word of a social worker over that of the parents any day of the week. You would not BELIEVE some of the crap parents try to pull when CPS gets involved...

It is not policy for cps to " stretch" the truth, but unfortunately this happens all too often. Truth is a perception, and as a worker might not like the environment or location of said child he/she might say what could be rather than what is. Unfortunately anywhere we might find ourselves, empowerment or the feeling of, is prevalent in those that can alter an others life for the good or for the bad.

If a social worker is lying, they're breaking the rules. They aren't permitted to lie.

I really don't believe that they are permitted to lie. And I really don't think there is a rule or law that gives them the authority to lie.

In the state that I live in social workers are poorly paid but given lots of leeway and power. My guess is that it is because they have very little oversight and because there are no repercussions for anything that they do. It is certainly a poor system.

they are not "PERMITTED" to lie.
they may be doing so under there own devices or thinking it is of the best interest of the child. Sometimes they go too far and think they are God.

THEY ARE NOT PERMITTED TO LIE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO REPORT THE TRUTH. THE THING IS THAT THEY REPORT THE TRUTH ACCORDING TO THEM. THEY DO HAVE TOO MUCH AUTHORITY. THEY ARE CONSTANTLY MAKING MISTAKES.
