When? And do you think this will lead the world in the right or wrong direction?
In my opinion, it will be China in 20-30 years. I'm not sure what the outcome will be, but I tend to think it will be a positive one.

I say sooner than that. China in 5-8 [All variables held constant of course =) ]. They pretty much already are a superpower, since they boast a 10,000,000 man standing army. They have the same resources the US had 40 years ago, but on a much larger scale. An educated workforce, natural resources, and a booming economy. I can see currency surpassing the dollar in 7 years or so, maybe even the euro [if germany experiences a recession].
I don't think that a non english speaking country will actually lead the world anytime soon, but china can definately run with the wolves.

Yep, China.
Notice how empire seem to last for shorter and shorter time periods. Egypt - 1000s of years - Romans 1000 , England - 100s, and now America, only a few decades.

China, but I disagree with you over it being a positive thing. Their human rights record is atrocious and it is still a communist country.
