many US cell carriers also enable you to send an SMS for free from their web site.

Sign in to yahoo messenger and click on the friend profile,you want to send the SMS,you will see a phone picture to top right corner ,click on that and follow the instructions.

if u want u sms from a pc first u make a e mail ID of ur own then go to sms option from there u can easily send sms to ur friend.

U can use Rediff Bol, yahoo SMS from messenger or Krifysms.com for PC to mobile sms.

really simple...log on to yahoo msgr...go to actions...go to 'send an sms msg'... enter the ph no as u would dial it....and voila!...u hv sent a msg!!!!
