Motion sickness is derived from the motions of a car. A train has movements that are much smoother than a car or truck.

I think it's because you can see the outside passing by and feel the motion of a car or bus far worse than on a train or the tube. It's the discrepency between the movement and the views outside of the window (even if you're only catching it out of the corner of your eye whilst trying to read) that you don't get when you're rattling along faster. I agree that if you concentrate on the outside and keep re-focusing on things it makes it better.

Buses Smell!!!

Same as cars. They all got a smell about them that trains and tubes dont.

I also think the movement is different. Buses and cars bounce up and down, as well as rock from side to side when cornering.

I get travel sick, but only on buses, cars and boats. Trains ,planes and tubes are fine.

Whilst reading on a bus your vision is open as such, ie seeing sights either side. In a tube or train your vision is blocked hense that is why you feel dizzy reading on tubes or train. If I were you I would not read on transport that makes you feel dizzy.

The bus in general moves around more. But I still don't like reading on the train or subway.

Btrix is right.

The suspension in a bus gives more motion and will make you ill. The trick is to look out of the window and it wont happen.
