If someone who was registered as permanently disabled in the UK were to move on a temporary basis to another EU country, such as France, to live and work for a year or two, would he then find on his return to the UK that he would have to establish his disabled status all over again and requalify for disability benefit? As far as the host country is concerned, would he, as a person registered as disabled in the UK, be regarded as such in that host country without having to go through further tests and bureacratic processes?

I'd like answers from people with some experience of this situation, please, as I'd rather not be referred to the DWP website.

As I have obviously created confusion, the benefits I referred to are mobility allowance, etc. The person in question would be more than capable of working in the UK, but eager to take up his rights under the free movement of workers legislation.

I'm confused. You are going abroad to work and yet in this country you do not work and yet claim benefits. I would say that if you did indeed leave the UK to go abroad and work then the powers that be would have every right to ask you to re-prove that you are still incapable of work when you get back. Why can you work there but not here?
