If you really want to impress a girl all you have to do is LISTEN to her. Cooking her a meal in your own home with some nice wine and just talking will get you everywhere. Most guys make the misake of thinking the more you spend the more impressed the girl will be. Just listening and taking your cue from what you both talk about will leave a lasting impression and the girl will fall at your feet. Trust me and try it. ok.. no alcohol on a first or second date... dinner and a movie just sounds so.. boring. go to the zoo or to a park and get to know her/him instead of watching a movie, eating and not being able to talk

Personally, I like to go for a few on a first date.
Maybe go play pool, or eat and have some drinks. It lightens the situation and helps you to open up.
