I don't have much time, her birthday is on Tuesday. I know I should have planned ahead...
She is not a materialistic person. Gift certificates are out too I think...
Any ideas?
She's very sentimental. She's the type of person who thinks she has everything she needs...

You know what would be really cool? I don't know how old you are, but if your mom is a "stay-at-home" mom, and you're still living at home with her, some "coupons" for just everyday stuff might be cool: Offer to do all the dishes one day, or the laundry one week. My mom's the same way (not materialistic), and she loved it when I did that - all the housework on one day. She just got to spend the day relaxing with her favorite book and a TV show or two.
Or a certificate for a massage or some other "pampering" treatment at a spa might be a nice change, give her a chance to relax and just "get away" from it all...

Good luck, and Happy Birthday to your mom!

The best gift is the thoughtful gift. I'll give you an example. When I was 13, my b/f's mother said she took the long way home because of a song playing on the radio. It happened to be American Pie by Don McLean, the long version. For Christmas, like 5 months later, I ordered the tape with that song on it for her. It was thoughtful, and a real surprise. Think back on conversations with your mother to see if she has ever made mention of somethng like that. It will be a big surprise! Good luck.

Why don't you plan a night out for the two of you, where you pick up the bill? Dinner, a movie or other event you would both enjoy. This will give you guys some nice quality time together.

A flower and a hug. Make your own card for her. Spenting time with someone is the nicest gift you can give. You are very fortunate to have such a nice mom.

My son one yr for my bday made me a coupon book which was so neat, great, & very useful. He made me 10 coupons such as 1. one nite of free dish washing 2. One free car wash 3. One free night of supper 4. one free house cleaning & so forth. He stuck with the coupons & when I wanted to use one I would just hand it to him and he would do it. You could make up your own coupons & moms really like having nights off. Hope this helped. P.S. Moms like anything hand made.

Just take her to dinner and I think she will appreciate the time that the two of you are spending will be better than a gift itself.

I'd make an appointment for TWO at a local day spa or nail salon and GO WITH HER. The salon will give you a certificate for her to open. Mothers love to do things with their kids.

For my mom's birthday I made her a pillow with Elvis on it, she loves anything Elvis, I also made her a scrapbook with pictures of the two of us. These might be ideas you could use for your mom. You could also wrote her a poem or even make her dinner. Good luck.

How about a spa treatment? Something where she gets pampered for a few hours?

It lets mom know that she's special to you and that you feel she deserves to be pampered!

Hmmm... looks like the kiddies are abusing the thumbs again.
