I'm considering opening a boutique. Below are some bullet-point highlights of what it will consist of. Following are my questions to you.

Boutique:
- Women (catering to 25-40)
- Clothes, shoes and accessories
- The theme and style of clothes will capture a certain region of Europe (disclosed for now).
- The clothes will be both imported from that region and made here in the US with the designs being influenced from that region.

Questions:
1) Would you shop at a boutique like this exclusively online?
2) For such originals pieces, what price ranges do you think are resonable?
3) What extra perks would pursued you to check it out and/or continue shopping at this boutique.

I have been going crazy trying to determine wheter or not I should proceed with this idea. Your feedback is greaty appreciated!!!!

if the prices are reasonable, i'd shop there. we don't need another online "boutique" that has outrageous prices, though. i'd continue shopping there if it had great styles with good prices, things that are trendy but not too trendy...
oh, sorry, and i'm 23, but i figured that was close enough

I think you might get better information by looking at parallel 'ethnic' niche on-line/catalogue sellers. The ones I know about sell cotton clothing grown and sown by co-operative workers in India (fairtrade). Bishopstown Trading Co. is one in the UK. Marketplace is another in the U.S. In both cases, the fairtrade ideal helps. Is that a similar hook that you can use?

Since you're thinking in terms of on-line selling, you're in a good position to start small. Importing doesn't have to have a lot of overhead and will let you actually test and experiment with marketing. If it flies, then you'll be able to make better use of design and production monies.

Include small things like jewelry and accessories, especially if you can source them cheaply. People will often add in a little extra if the price isn't dear.

Give information about the region so people have more of a sense of what the culture's like. Include a few pictures too.

I personally shop at thrift stores. Sometimes I will buy it new if it is nice enough. I like clothes that are slightly sexy yet some what conservative, being a married woman. And it can't be old lady style. I like those peasant shirts and v necks and capris. Japanese shirts and dresses are to die for, but I don't know about that european style. I would not want to pay more than 45 dollars a top and 60 for pants and 100 dresses.

First of all, if its your dream, then I say GO FOR IT!!! I like being able to purchase anything online. Buyers like lots of options: lots of pictures of the items, a sizing chart, lots of choices for shipping, lots of choices for paying, including PayPal, 24/7 online customer support is always a plus, and free return shipping will make people more apt to try your items. For original pieces, and just starting out, you shouldn't charge too much, because you may initially scare people from your site or boutique. Since you can't say what kind of type of items they are going to be, I will give you an estimate of what I would pay for original pieces...$60 for a top, $100 for shoes, $80-$100 for jeans & pants...these prices are the highest I would pay. Hope this helps :-)

ok...i understand why you don't want to disclose the region, but it would make a huge difference to me as to whether or not i would shop there. over all though, i would probably look into shopping there. hard to say on the price range because it would really depend on what it was. lets say shoes......for imported and original pieces i would say in the $50 to $100 range would be fair. hmmm extra perks.....i would offer a free gift to any first time shoppers. it doesn't have to be anything huge. just something cute and small.

Hmmmmm....it depends on the price. Also, have a wide range of sizes! If you cater to women with real curves, you might have a better chance at succeeding since it can be hard to find well made, awesome European styles in larger sizes.
