Unique ideas and thoughts from our ancient societies abound throughout the planet and some of their energy still exists in plain sight.

The pyramids on the Giza plateau are an example of ancient energy that have stood for 4500 years.

Some say the Sphynx has been around for over 10,000 yrs. I believe it is and I believe that ancient Eqypt rediscovered and restored it with a new head in the king's likeness.

People from all over the world still gather at Stonehenge to celebrate the winter solstice every year.

People trek and climb thousands of miles to witness the power of Machu Pichu.

There is nothing written that explains the ancient myteries that I mentioned above, yet their energies are all very real.

We need to continue with new thought and ideas for our energy to be discovered at some future time.

This question may be more fit for Philosophy, but it is interesting nonetheless.

In something like your scenario, where a thought goes unexpressed and is later forgotten, I'd say the idea still exists but resides in a "low-voltage" area of the brain. The thoughts and ideas that we use most often are the ones that are most accessible. And a thought or idea outlives its usefulness, it gradually drifts into the realm of the forgotten, but it can still be triggered if a current thought or experience is related to it. Some distant memories are more readily accessible than others, so this maybe difficult. And I guess that there comes a time when the memory is lost forever, but I think that happens seldomly in normal minds.
