Brazilian culture is a Latin American culture of a very diverse nature. Its chief early influence was Portuguese culture, due to strong colonial ties with the Portuguese empire that spread the Portuguese language, legal system and other cultural inheritances. Other important influences came from other parts of Europe; the Native South American peoples; Africa; Asia.
Both Brazil and the United States are large countries whose population was formed by multiple immigration sources from many countries, each one bringing its own culture. However, even though some cultures pride themselves on the diversity of multiple cultures and their generally peaceful coexistence, the Brazilian idea of culture is one of mixed unity, containing many diverse ingredients, but composing one meal, so to speak. While the ideal image of some cultures is the idea of a white Protestant living next to an African-background person or a Jew, the Brazilian is typically white but also multi-ethnic.

Latin American. Specifically of course Brazilian. Portuguese language, a mainly European and African influences. The Portuguese took the territory in a deal with the Spanish. Heavy migration and European diseases, displaced the native population. New populations of Europeans initially from Portugal and Africa (brought over a s slaves) began to populate the country. After Brazil became independent following the Napoleonic wars in Europe there was more immigration from other European countries particularly Germans and Italians, also a significant movement from Japan, with still a steady migration from Portugal and Africa until the slave trade ended. As European and the Japanese economies improved migration fell.
Brazil remains a very Catholic country with a very capitalist economy. The African and Latin influences are clear in music and cuisine, everything now with its own Brazilian style. Native populations still exist in rural areas with there own unique cultures.
