Reasonable because your first appiontment should be between 6-8 weeks after you concieve. But as long as you are being careful, I wouldn't worry to much. If something does happen, or you think something is wierd go to the ER

I don't think you need a referral - I didn't, I just went to one and that was it. I called when I found out, and it was 3 weeks before I could get in. I was 9 weeks at my first visit.

Most practitioners won't schedule a visit until you're about eight weeks pregnant, unless you have a medical condition, have had problems with a pregnancy in the past, or are having problems now such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, or severe nausea and vomiting. Also, if you're taking any medications or think you may have been exposed to hazardous substances, ask to speak to the doctor or midwife as soon as possible.

hiya u should be see at about 6 weeks so your midwife can explain to you all the things you need to know like folic acid if you are not already taking it you should do now it help prevent spineabifita but is only attective upto 12 weeks u should be offered a dating scan too. u need your bloods taking to this is all important so if i was you i would either go and see another midwife or demand that you get an appointment with your midwife. but don't let up this is yourbaby and don't let anyone let you that you have to wait. in the mean time if you have any worries don't hesitate about going to hospital its better safe then soory and just explain that you haven't been seen by your midwife yet. goodluck.

Your first visit is usually at about 8 weeks. If for some reason you don't get in that early it will most likely be fine. There are lots of people who don't go for their visit until they are several months in for various reasons...and lots of them deliver healthy babies (don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating putting off your prenatal checkups). I wouldn't worry about a week or 2. Congratulations!
Also, lots of insurances don't require a referral for a visit to your OB/GYN. Most insurances don't consider them a "specialist" the way they do a neurologist or cardiologist. They expect you to be going to the OB/GYN every year.

While it's probably not urgent to get right in to see a doctor, it's understandable that you'd be upset at the delay. I find it hard to believe that your doctor's office puts all referrals on hold just because one person is away and they certainly ought to hear complaints about that.

Its so important to get in ASAP!!! My friend got a positive on a pregnancy test and didn't go in till she was like 12 weeks...and found out that she wasn't actually pregnant, just had an egg sac that didn't develop properly but was still growing. If she hadn't gone in, that could have caused a major infection in her uterus....which in turn could have kept her from ever having children. Which is why it is so important to get checked out!!!!

You should go as soon as you find out.... I would suggest finding a different doctor. This littel incident is only the tip of the iceberg of what could happen during a pregnancy emergency. You have a right to switch doctors and you should.

i would try a different doctor. They should at least schedule you in to confirm you're pregnant and to see how far along you are. It's never too early for prenatal visit...till you get seen make sure you take prenatal pills you can get them from the store.
