You can't tell the diffrence. If you feel you are having any contractions at all, call your doctor and DO NOT be embaressed to do it. I was in my docs office 3 time with false labor. When I called to let him know I was really in labor, he laughed at me and bet me $50 I wasn't. My daughter was born 24 hours later. We still laugh at it.

For me, some of the Braxton Hicks contractions were much worse than the firs couple of hours of real contractions. I started having Braxton Hicks every time I got even remotely dehydrated so stay hydrated and see if that helps them go away.
Don't worry about labor. Sure, it hurts, but the second you see your new little baby you forget all about the pain. At least I did anyway.

I am 32 weeks and have been having these as well. This does sound like the braxton hicks contractions. to me they don't feel the same as a regular contraction, a regular contraction to me feels a lot more intense. mine with previous pregnancies seemed to be more like someone was stabbing me in the back. they do make you want to use the restroom though, but this could just be a sign that your baby is head down pressing on your bladder.

that is not what it felt like to me....but who knows? everybody feels muscle craps, pain, stiffness a little differently. My stomach didn't get "hard" during contractions. I went into labor 2x...the first one stopped on its own after about 2 hours. The second was a week later and the big one. I got really shaky and cold both times (nervous??) but the contractions didn't feel anything like the little pulling i felt during braxton hicks contractions.

I have a two part answer for your questions.
1) Yes braxton hicks, make your stomach tighten up snd hard and make you use the bathroom then.
2) No true labor pains due not feel like that.
I asked my girlfriend and she had a baby 11 months ago.

that is a braxton hicks contraction. real contractions will be accompanied with a little pain and pressure. not the urge to go to the bathroom. sometimes real contractions are accompanied with pain in the lower back, depending on which way the baby's head is facing. you should talk with you ob or midwife about the difference in the feelings associated with the 2.
