The laptop i bought last spring did not come with a recovery disk, instead it had a seperate partition on the hard drive, marked as drive "D", from which I burned my own recovery disks.

Contact the maker of your laptop and explain that your computer crashed and you hadn't made a disc, and what to do.

Good luck.

Most laptops come with recovery disks, which is what I think you're referring to. If you can't find it, I would suggest giving Dell a call.

Laptop Battery Recall
(AP) Major Japanese electronics maker Toshiba Corp. said Friday that it is recalling 830,000 batteries made by Sony for its laptops, the latest in a growing global recall involving Sony batteries.

Toshiba spokesman Keisuke Omori said the recall involves Dynabook, Qosmio, Satellite Portege and Tecra models, but regional breakdowns and dates of manufacturing weren't immediately available.

Fujitsu spokesman Masao Sakamoto also said the Tokyo-based company will be making a decision soon about its laptops using Sony lithium-ion batteries.
