This is a memoir, rather than a biography. Palimpsest by Gore Vidal. He comes of as not a very nice person, but you get some interesting views behind the scene in Washington, including the Kennedys.

Well, I haven't read any recent ones. the most recent was published about five years ago and called Warriors Don't Cry:the autobiography of Melba Peals.
I think everyone should read it atleast once.
Another one I love is A Different Kind of Hero by Chris Burke.

One of the best biographies ever written is supposed to be Cassanova's. (It's not just filled with his exploits of wooing women.)
