War is reality no matter the system. I suspect that since the beginning of civilization, there have been only a handful of days where every nation/empire/tribe has been at complete peace with all those around them. Peace is the rarity which is why so many people covet it so much. Unfortunately, a good many people seem willing to trade freedom for peace (security) these days. Eliminating the independent nation state WILL lead us deep into the heart of Lord Acton's axiom (Absolute power corrupts absolutely)

To some extent it is. If every culture and society were in perfect balance within itself the world would be peaceful.
However, one rock in the road can tip the apple cart.
I give you Hugo Chavez, Kim Ill, Madinejad, and fanatical islam just to name a few of the rocks.

No. Even if you had that "wonderland" world government you would still have wars. Instead of World War it would be a civil war. Too many economic, cultural and ethnic differences to think otherwise.
