Muslim Taxi Driver refuses to allow guide dog in his cab?

According to the Sun, a Muslim Taxi Driver in London has been fined £1,400 because he refused to take a blind passenger in his cab - she had her guide dog with her and he claimed dogs are "against his religion".

I'm sorry but I'm sick of this., First we have a Muslim Policeman refusing to do his duty because of his "moral" objections, we have muslim women insisting on covering their faces even though it initimates people and now Muslim taxi drivers thinking they can flout the rules of taxi licensing because of their religion.

It seems that they want a special set of laws and rules "just for them".

In that case they need to leave the UK and go live in a Muslim country.

Jessica - interesting what you say about white/black violence. A friend of ours was beaten unconcious and put in hospital by a Pakistani neighbour (with an ASP) and the case has been dismissed - the perpetrator is basically getting away with it scott free because he claimed our friend had called him a racist word. So its OK to put someone in hospital because they offended you is it? Or does that only apply if you are from Pakistan?

I know a bit about this as my step father-in-law used to be a taxi driver. Under UK LAW a taxi driver CANNOT refuse to carry a guide dog unless they (the driver) has an allergy to dogs (and you have to display a meidcal certificate showing this). They CANNOT refuse to take a guide dog because they are "scared" of dogs or don't want dog hair on their seats etc etc - guide dogs are a necessity not a pet and blind people need their dogs to get around. The driver should find another job if he hates dogs that much as he has no right to refuse to carry a guide dog!!!!!! He cannot disobey the law because of his religion!!!

And no I wouldn't "refuse" to do something I had to do because of my relgious beleiefs - I'd move to a country where the laws reflected my religion. As these people should.

The problem is that they want to take over your country and make it a Muslim country, and you would be considered a foreigner in your own home. They want to change it to Sharia law, then you will have no voice. Political correctness is taken over the whole world, and everyone seems to want to appease them.

Another thing, is they know that the UK is better for them, and that is why they are immigrating to the UK, as many more will. So many of them scream death to the UK, and at the same breath will move there in a second when they get the chance.

To be fair, try not to judge all of them the same. They are different as we all are. Just because of a few as this Taxi Driver refuses the dog to enter his cab, other Muslims will not do the same.

A little history to add some info to what is going on today.
In 1453 the Ottoman Turks took over the Byzantine empire, and changed everything in it to suit their life. The Capital Constantinople was renamed into Istanbul, its churches were converted to mosques, the country changed its name to Turkey, and its residnets lost their languag, cultural identity, and religion to Muslims Turks. At this rate, wonder what will Uk change to when the Muslims change their laws into Sharia law, what would their language, cultural, and religion be then, will the churches becomes mosques as it has been done in Turkey and many other muslim country! The taxi cab driver refusing the seeing eye dog will be nothing to measure in comparison with what will happen then.

They don't want a special set of laws and rules 'just for them'! they want their rules and laws be on all of you. If you don't believe it! then open your ears wider, their are not hiding their intention. At least when it comes in this area, they are being honest about wanting to rule the whole world by their laws.

With probable racist technophobes screaming at me I will answer this.......

Most taxi drivers in Birmingham and large Cities are Muslim. They should abide by the rules. A guide dog is a necessity to a blind person and to "refuse to have the dog in the taxi" is taking things a bit far especially if it was a Black Cab. If it was a private hire then I can understand to a degree someone, not just a Muslim, wanting a dog in there messing up the seats with dog hairs etc...

That said surely the person who took the booking (If it was private hire) should have realised that there would be some problem with this.

The simple fact is that Muslims need to chill out and come to terms with Western life if they are to live here. If they can't do this than I ask the simple question... WHY ARE THEY HERE?

I do not wish to appear racist but I'd be happy if everyone just got along and these stupid barriers dropped. Religion of any kind has got a lot to answer for............. and so has Cherie Blair with the Human rights law...... worst thing that could ever have happened that...

Although Im not a racist ..like some of u azzholes .. I do believe that if you have a job to do .. u should do it .. no exceptions...

If people can't seperate their beliefs .. then maybe they should consider different jobs.

Nobody should pick and choose .. they should stand by their beliefs with dignity .. and probably resign ... but im sure we dont know the full story... was probably a cab driver or something.

I'm just not sure this would have been a big deal if the cab driver was white .. and just though that dogs were dirty.

also ... if a white cab driver refused to pick up a young black or white guy with a hoodie ... i think u guys would not be so up in arms either .... the point is .. its not about being a muslim ... that stuff is another debate... it is about doing the job uyou are paid to do... no picking and choosing ... from ANYBODY!!!

Your completely right as regards taxis having to carry guide dogs. As you say the only exemption is for a medically certified allergy. As a cab driver myself I would suggest this individual seeks another occupation. All licenced cab drivers are made aware of this rule before they are issued a badge. To claim it is for religious reasons is nonsense, where I drive there are many Muslim drivers and I've heard none object to this ruling.

It is interesting to know that dogs are mentioned in the Quran 5 times, not just once, 7:176, 18:18, 18:22 (three times). NO WHERE does the Quran call the dogs dirty animals or give any indication that they should be avoided or treated the way many Muslims think they should.

Well, I was just going to read this topic and keep my mouth shut, but what the hell....
If it's against your religion, then why would you pursue that career? Just like pork? Well would Muslims work at a slaughter house? Get real. I wanted to be a veterinarian, but knew that I couldn't put the animals to sleep, so I chose a different path. I am sick of people who want special treatment, noone owes you anything, black, white, green, or yellow..... noone owes you a thing. No we will not change our lives to suit you, if you don't like the way we live, don't come to our home. I wouldn't go to a foreign country and expect them to bend for me, and I damn sure will not bend for them. There isn't a prejudice bone in my body, it makes me sick, but damn it, enough is enough!

You have a right to be angry. This is not acceptable at all a gude dog is the blind persons eyes. Some people just are full of excuses based on religion.

He should be glad he was give sight and aid those who are disdvantaged.

If a British woman goes to a Muslim country she has to wear a veil because of their laws, it is only fair that we should have a law saying that their women must not wear their veils. Racism is blamed all too often when they cant get their own way. The policeman that refused to defend the Israeli embassy should have been fired, I dont care what his reasons were. If there was an Israeli person who needed police protection as he was witness to a crime does this mean he would have refused? It's pathetic. No wonder there is racial tension when all they want to do is segregate themselves as much as possible and not try and fit in. If they want to do everything differently to the rest of us then why did they come here in the first place? Because we made it to easy for them to come over here, segregate themselves and do as little as possible to fit in. Why do people claim political asylum from places like Pakistan/India/China when all they want to do is live as they have lived in thoses countries?
