I mentor a 13 year old girl. She has not had a very desirable life, and I understand that.
When I take her out, she can be very rude, and obnoxious, to the point that it embarasses me.
For example, the program this is through put on a picnic and supplied a lot of food, BBQ for the event. It was really nice. We went up to the table to get our food, and she was like "gross, gross, I want pizza". I think she is just in a stage where she thinks that sorta thing is cool.
I have told her that she is being rude, but I don't really know how to fix this problem... any suggestions?

Tell her that attitude is not acceptable and you'll have to drop her as your little sister if she doesn't change. As far as I know, you're doing her a favor, not the other way around.

Tell her unless she is polite when you take her out and not rude you will not take her out again. She needs to learn her manners.

As a mentor, you would have to operate by example.
