Try to avoid anything with caffeine in it, about the week before you start. See if that helps you.

Honey i started when I was 12 and I am now 46 and yep I still have periods too. When I first started I was at school and noticed a light brown color when I got out of the pool and was getting ready for the next class. To tell you the truth I really didn't think much about it.

I got home from school it was a Friday and I got up to go to the bathroom and started screaming for my mom who was asleep on the couch. She flew in the air ran to the bathroom and all I could say is I need one of those pad things. Her response was calm down you are not going to die. I went to bed that night not feeling to bad.

I got up the next morning and my mom was taking my sister and I for some new clothes. Boy was I stuck. I went to put my jeans on and I couldn't even get them over my stomach. Tried another pair and then started crying because I had cramps so bad that I thought that I was going to die. I put on my moms stretch pants took some Midol and went to the store. I was so cramped up that I went and sat in the cafeteria of the store and couldn't move. I went home and stayed in bed for the next two days. So yes honey I understand you probably hurt get some Pamprin or Midol it will help with the cramps. Good Luck and God Bless You

I started at 11 and used to get horrible cramps until I started taken Birth Control at 17. I know it's not the solution for cramps (that's not why I started taken it..) but cramps disappear in a charm.

I was 12 and yes, I had TERRIBLE cramps. I found out that heavy periods and cramping can be due to your hormones being off balance. I started using natural progesterone cream. By the third month I didnt have any cramps at all. Natural progesterone cream isnt for everyone, so check with your gyn.

ten grrr had to wear the thickest maxi pad ugh i was so mad. Then the cramps came during recess, OMG I was in agony. It felt like the insides of my uterus were pulsing with knives poking into them. I went to the bathroom and sat on the toilet crying, holding my tummy and rocked back and forth hoping and praying that it would go away. It didnt. I got up and went to the nurse. No relief there. She told me that she couldnt give me any aspirin becasue i needed a doctor's note or my mother's signature. By now the cramps were blooming all over my body. I felt weak and helpless and cried my eyes out. I went back out to the playground and sat on the benches hunched over. Nobody even cared enough to ask me why i was sad not even a teacher. I was miserable. I thought to myself how unfair it was and how i didnt deserve the pain. I mean there i sat, a little girl of ten with aches and pains that a grown woman complains about. School bell rang I tried to walk to class. Everything on my body started to feel tightened and i couldnt move. I started to hyperventilate, the pain was so excruciating...I got dizzy and I cant remember from there :_( I think i passed out. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. Nobody helped me.

I started at 14, it was horrible... I thought I was never going to be a "woman". Now that I am older, I wish girls didn't get overwhelmed by it

11 years old seems average to me. Is it making you worry?

Yes, I get cramps but they vary every month: sometimes they are very painful and sometimes very tolerable but they are always there, especially during the second day, when menstruation flows the most on me

Get some midol and a heating pad because it doesn't get any better as far as the cramps. Mild stretching and exercise will help. I started mine when I was thirteen but my daughters both started at eleven.

11 is about right for most girls but some start as early as 9 and others start well into their teens. It varies for each individual due to hormonal influences.
