Just because we don't protest in the streets, does not mean we do not question the government. We simply look at the alternative.
>>"how long we can last by doing the things this country is doing"
And the alternative is a party (Democrat or left) that lust after our paychecks and will create a governmen twice the size of what we have today with massive social welfare spending (That is undeniable and we do not approve of that) And then "right-wingers" would be asking the question.
>>"how long we can last by doing the things this country is doing.
Furthermore, 1 million innocent civilians were killed in the Korean war. The alternative would be a united Korea under Kim Jong Il. War has never been clean and pretty and I don't know why anyone thinks it should be now. And sometimes, YES, war is the best alternative. Tell the South Korean people they would be better off today if that war had not been fought.
I'm not saying war in Iraq is the best alternative, buy why do Clinton supporters now call Bush a liar. The entire Clinton administration said everything about Iraq that Bush said. But suddenly Bush is the liar. You can't have it both ways. You find a memo here and there and a handful of people who come out and say something negative. Isn't that called cherry-picking the information you want to believe? Hindsight is 20/20.
Finally, we see the rampant amount of ridiculous conspiracy theories and sometimes it is best to just stay quiet.

Many of us DO question the government... JUST NOT EVERY LAST THING THE GOVERNMENT SAYS OR DOES.... The uber-libs question anything and everything that any conservative does.
I question why No Child Left Behind has not been revamped as needed. I question why it has taken so long to work on securing our borders. I question why we have let the handout be the major purpose of our governmental system. I question why the budget has not been balanced more by eliminating such (notice the laugh intended) 'crucial' programs as support for artists and clean needles for drug users. I question why we have not made even more progress against Bin Laden. I question why we still have unequal taxation instead of a flat tax. I question why the government has not shouted to the treetops about how rediculous these stupid conspiracy theories are. I question LOTS of things about the government.
And I also question why you ASSume the war is based off of greed an power when the reasons (yes, more than just WoMD) were clearly given. I question why uber-liberals think that if they just keep spouting off things it must be fact.

Why do you believe, against all facts, that we 'refuse' to question the government? It's just that we recognize a fact as a fact. When you choose to disbelieve the facts and seek 'deeper truths' is what gives you loopy conspiracy theories.
Take the reasons for attacking Iraq. For months the President and his administration gave lists of reasons for the attack. Our intelligence agencies and the intelligence agencies of our allies and even non-allies all said that there were WMDs and active WMD programs. This is the fact. It was questioned, yet the fact did not budge.
At that point, we accept that it is so. We don't choose to create delusional fantasies about oil, Halliburton, revenge or whatever, just because we don't like the reality or because of irrational animosity towards the government.
There are many decisions that have been made that we do not fully agree with or even very much disagree with. However, at that point, one needs to make a decision whether to fight it or not, whether it is worth fighting or not.
But there are things that take a back seat to our disagreements. Such as when our troops are already in battle. Once the debate is over and the decision is made to fight, and the fight begins, it is the wrong time to start making up fictions that undermine our efforts and encourage our enemies.
That's one example. But you really should ask about some specific items that you have chosen to disagree with.
Oh, and as for not questioning the questionable actions of government, we saw a lot of that from January 1993 to January 2001, too.

I think right-wingers are far more critical of government than left- wingers. Which is the reason so many conservatives are upset with the big-spenders in Congress! If you're wondering why I'm not out burning a flag or an effigy of the President, well I'm too darn busy at work and raising kids!
I remember only one Democrat Senator who stated displeasure with Bill Clinton when he was busted for lying to Congress; Joe Lieberman. The Dems have nearly excommunicated him. But there are many Republicans who have made life tough for the President without fear of banishment.
Slavish devotion to President Clinton made Dems look like spineless sycophants. Remember when Zell Miller came out fighting against Democrat policy? It was only after he was done with his political career! He had a lot of anger stored up.
So while I agree with you that people should question their government, I would say that Liberals have more therapy required to actually do it.

I don't. I'm a Christian, therefore I am normally considered conservative in my beliefs. I don't whole heartedly believe in the gvt. decisions, and niether does anyone else I know. I think the gvt is totally screwed up by this point. I believe in some things, but not all. I do believe though, in praying for my elected leaders and supporting them because we did elect them. This doesn't mean that I agree all the time. If I disagree, I have channels to use to convey my thoughts. ie: writing to congressmen. We have a nice system set up, but it doesn't really work because there are humans in it. But the only option is to use it as it was intended and hope that on the other end is someone who believes too. I question a lot of decisions the gvt has made.

We DO question the government when we disagree with it. Conservatives are trying to change the state and local government policies in New Jersey, New York, Chicago, and many other places. Many conservatives do not completely agree with Bush on abortion, stem cell research, immigration. It's just that conservatives tend to agree with a conservative government and liberals agree with a socialist government, so right now most of the opposition comes from the left.
Another difference is that conservatives usually dissent by offering a different (better?) policy. Liberals dissent by shouting "WE HATE BUSH".

do you mean question the gov't or the military? we question the gov't all of the time. We want a smaller gov't so that people can have more freedom. We hate high taxes because it makes the gov't bigger which in turn means less freedom for the people. question gov't spending, you'll be surprised to find how good the gov't is at wasting American taxpayer dollars

well....not all conservatives are close-minded. If we dont do something for our country...no one else will....ESPECIALLY not the U.N.
Look at Darfur! The U.N. said what is going on over in Sudan is NOT genocide! They are so stupid!
Everyone is going to have different opinions about every issue but of course there are only a select few in power to act on those beliefs.
