If you have used this sim card in this phone in the past without this error you will probably need to take the sim card out, make sure it doesn't have any dust or debris on it, and insert it again.

Basically, it could be a few things. One, your sim latch could be open and the contacts aren't producing the currency to read it. There could be possible liquid or physical damage to the phone. Also, it could just be a defective board, or the sim could be damaged. Try taking the SIM card out, wiping off the contacts (on the card and phone) and see if there are any foreign objects in there. Then turn it back on and try. If none of that works, it has to do with the board, which you'll then have to take to a service center for repair or swap. I work as a service tech for Sprint/Nextel, you can trust me!

Most phones have a sim card. That's a little electronic chip card under the battery. You may not have put yours in yet. Take the battery out and look. If you just got a new phone activated they should have given you a sim card to install with your phone. So look through your stuff for a little credit card like thingy, that has a 1/2" x 1/2" (approximately) little chip in it and put that in your phone. If its already in there go to the store of your cell phone company and they can assist you with getting the right chip. (perhaps even for free if you have service with them)

For some reason your phone is not reading it - go into your provider and tell them you need to get a new sim card. If your phone is less then 1 yr old you still have a warranty.

Take out the sim card, stomp on it and put it back in. Still doesn't work? Check with your service and see if you forgot to pay your bill.

A mixture of b and c. Read the messages, then, depending on what they say either go get another job or walk in. Dont worry though if you dont know anything then you have nothing to fear.

It means your SIM Card is busted, or that your phone has been disconnected. Go to your wireless dealer and have them check it.
