I will be transferred to Boston from Asia due to a job relocation. Is there a Japnese Gorcery/bookstore?
I am moving to Boston due to job relocation, I've been to Boston once many years ago. I really enjoyed Bostn and I am happy to be back again. I would be greatly apprecite it if any one can tell me if there is Japanese Grocery store, bookstore and any good Japnese or Asian restaurants around town within 50 miles.

I also would like some tips on driving around town (people tend to drive fast here, right?and I have not driven for a while) or just about anything tips on living in Boston will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you everyone in advance for your help.

Welcome to Boston!

I did a quick search for Japanese Grocery and Bookstores in the area. You may find this link to be of use:

As for Japanese and/or Asian restaurants, there are dozens and dozens and dozens! Too many to list!

Regarding driving tips: If you are going to be living within the city---Back Bay or Beacon Hill or Waterfront, for example, you won't need a car to get around town. The subway system is fantastic. I keep my car garaged out of town and take the T to get the car when I need it for weekend trips.

I suggest that you rent a car if you feel you need one for the occasional trip. Also, there is something called Zipcar that might work for you: http://www.zipcar.com/how/

It's not the driving around that is so difficult, it is the parking that is so very expensive and so very difficult to find!

Good luck!

There are lots of markets like you're looking for in Boston, same as in any large American city. I would specifically try the areas directly down town Boston, or Allston or Cambridge.

Yes, there are lots of asians in Boston. If you can't find a Japanese grocery, you'll definitely be able to find Korean groceries.
