The reason that I have a problem with call centres that are not based in this country whether they are in India or wherever is the fact they have no knowledge of the country we are calling from. i was asked once what city was London in, another time I was patched into a hotel in New York with the exact name as a company i was looking for in Greater Manchester. I have had some terrible experiences with them and cost me quite a bit of money so I think that call centres should be in the country of the original complaint so that they are more effective.

Unfortunately like it or not it is a sign of the times. Employment costs out there are far cheaper and given the global market place that the internet and improved computer systems has created then businesses are going to go where costs can be reduced.

I guess your question really boils down to whether you particular distrust Indian people with your personal info than you do others. i.e. We give out our personal info all the time in today's World within the UK and there are 1000s of incidents of I.D. theft etc as a result due to dodgy English people. Wherever personal info is provided there is always going to be the risk that someone else will want to get hold of it for illicit purposes.

Therefore - as I have no personal reason to believe that Indians are any more non-trust worthy than people here, I am inclined to think that anything that reduces my personal costs is a good thing.

I have no problem with India or Indians but I hate calling Indian call centres. I always seem to get people who don't speak terribly good English, or don't really understand what to do - its a nightmare if you have a complicated query to discuss with them. You'll be forever on the phone trying to get it sorted out!

I am very unhappy with Indian call centres. You can never understand them on the phone and now it is claimed they are not secure.

In recent months I have cancelled arrangements with at least four companies who use call centres outside the UK.

Personally, and I don't have anything againist people with accents, I don't like the idea because I can't understand what they are saying when they talk. Out of the country or not.

i'm thinkin not too many people will be happy, I for one am not, they have very little idea of what they are doing, and not to much incentive to help you as they know they are miles away and you cannot go and beat them up!! I live in norwich and normally when i ring norwich union and they hear my post code they know im close so they do all they can to help me!

I hated them before I hate them even more now!

It takes ages to get yourself understood and to understand them aswell sometimes which is not very nice especially when it's your money they're dealing with!
