why would a guy tell a person to tell me to call him and when i do he sounds upset on the phone?

i asked if he would watch something for me but when i called he said that he had already discussed the issue with my friend so why did he tell that other person to tell me to call him

MAYBE BECAUSE HE FEELS THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON THAT HE CAN CONFIDE IN AND TALK TO,BECAUSE YOU AE OR CAN BE A GREAT LISTNER
