id like to get my gf some new scents. can any ladies recommend something light, flowery, fruity, or soapy clean/fresh? Dont like anything spicy or heavy. I tend to like the mall smells - the little girly smells you smell when u walk by Abercrombie or whatever. Especially like the fruity flowery smells.

Oh man, i love this question. I collect perfumes and like yourself, i love fruity/flowery fragrance. These are my recommendtions:
1) DKNY Be Delicious- the green one not the red one. The green one is by far my favourite. Its got that fruity green apple smell and its kinda musky as well so you feel happy and sexy at the same time.
2) Armani code for women- this one has a more flowery undertone as compared to the previous one but there are something still fruity about it. Its very seductive. I recommend its usage for going on dates.
3) Escada Rockin Rio- this is the ultimate fruity scent that ever exixted. Its strong so maybe you wont like it. Its awesome for outdoor summer wear. A total headturner. In fact if you like friuty scents, just check the Escada line. Most of their fragrance are fruity.
4) Paris Hilton by Paris Hilton- I know, I know, before you go "ewww i hate that woman", i have to say that i hate her too. I got this as a gift and much to my surprise love the scent. Its again, a strong combination of fruity and floral and oh-so-seductive. Great for both day and night use.
5) Givency Very Irristible- This have actually been around for a while but its one of their bestsellers and for good reason too. This is more floral than fruity and sexy as hell as well. Again, good for both day and night wear.
I suggest that you go to the fragrance counter and give all these a try. I bet that you could at least find one that you would fall totally head over heels for.

All the scents below are light. I too hate the musky, heavy, spicy scents.
Calyx - Prescriptives
Top note includes a profusion of grapefruit and mandarin with a tropical blend of passion fruit, mango, papaya and guava. This one is very clean smelling. Though not very well known, I really like it for this reason.
L'eau D'Issey - Issey Miyaki
Pure floral, complex fragrance. Wide range of floral scents including lotus, cyclamen, freesia, carnations, and white lilies, with hints of amber-seed musk.
Miss Dior Cherie - Christian Dior
This one is my current fave. Notes of chic, green tangerine, violette, and pink jasmine mingle with soft patchouli, musk, and delectably sweet strawberry leaves and caramelized popcorn. The strawberry is the strongest note in this scent.
Pure Tiffany - Tiffany
Clean, classic yet complex.
All but the Pure Tiffany can be found at any department store. Pure Tiffany is sold only at Tiffany stores.

There are so many different types of high quality perfumes, but I'm just going to list my personal faves.
-Incanto Charms by Salvatore Ferragimo (sweet pea, melon, and a hint of kiwi.)
-Exotic Pleasures by Estee Lauder (tropical twist of hibiscus, passionfruit, and plumeria.)
Beyond Paradise by Estee Lauder (floral, but with tangerine and black orchid.)
Chance by Chanel (a nice mix of lavender, water lilies, and lotus.)
No. 8 by Abercrombie and Fitch (the perfect smell for any occasion.)
One Summer by Calvin Klein (fruity mixture of honeydew melon, citrus fruits, and alluring Kangaroo Paw Flower.)
These perfumes are all delicious in a fruity, flowery, but yet clean and comfortable fragrance. You can find all these at Nordstorms, A&F stores, and Macy's.

Try some body sprays instead of perfume....like from Victoria Secret. A lot of those sprays are a bit lighter than perfume.
VS has a lot of flowery scents.

I use Armani Code right now. That's my scent and I'll stick to it.
I suggest Lacoste perfume (Touch of Pink and Touch of Sun), Gucci Envy Me, DKNY Be Delicious, D&G Light Blue...and the list goes on. Try some of those. But Armani is the best (for me)so far.

LOVELY, by Sarah Jessica Parker, best scent out right now. You can find at, Dillards, Macy's, Nieman Marcus, all major department stores. Smell it, its a light, classic smell. I LOVE IT and so will she.

i agree Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely is by far the best scent around.
Donna Karen Cashmere is also nice.

Try "Lemon Sugar" by Fresh. (They have boutiques at some malls and an online store.) It sounds exactly like what you're looking for!
