So which do you want? The Best? Or the Best Free?

Some people value their computer and data - if you refuse to spend money to protect yourself, then I guess you don't.

Most antivirus companies share the virus samples they get, but that doesn't mean they all work the same. I had a client I recently charged 1600 basically because Norton didn't review the samples in an appropriate time or manner. I didn't check McAfee, but the one that caught the virus - with3 month old definitions was called "Dr. Web". Maybe it was a fluke - it could easily have been luck. But I know McAfee's response time is FAR quicker than Symantec/Norton. The Abosute best at getting definitions out is Sophos - but they are corporate only.

I continue to use Norton albeit intentionally using Norten Internet Security 2003 rather than any of the newer versions. But, of course, the AntiVirus component and deinitions are always up-todate.

I have been happy with Norton for nearly a decade. They are the market leaders.

Have heard very good things about CA's anti-virus products. Have only used them for a short time on other computers.

My wife uses McAfee I always think that McAfee is too intrusive.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Avast and AVG are both junk. I recommend active virus shield. It is way better and it is FREE.
