If you want to overcome your fear you will have to confront it head on... Which means going to an amusement park.
Go with a friend and take it gently.

Confront your fears by starting small and working your way up. Try going to small fairs or block parties that may have a few rides and games. If you feel comfortable there, try finding a nice family style park. If you can come to Pennsylvania, I strongly recommend Knoebels Grove in Elysburg, PA. Family park with good food, free admission and a wooded setting. The park is not fenced in, has a large swimming pool with slides, 2 top notch wooden coasters (The Phoenix & Twister) and has the best park food in the world. Another consideration is try going to an amusement park that is not just plain rides and food. For these I would suggest Busch Gardens: Williamsburg (best landscaping and beer), Busch Gardens: Tampa (safari/zoo), or even one of the Seaworld.

Start small. You are afraid that you won't be able to handle the fear. You can work through it. Fear is an emotion like anger. Call it a new name. You are excited! Scream (as a dude, you would "yell") on everything. It releases the tension. No kidding, yelling gives you something to do so you aren't bracing yourself in pent up tension. I was afraid of alot until I was 12 and then just got over it by riding the medium rides until I could handle it.

Go with someone and make them ride the rides with you. That can ease some of the fear but the only way to get over this is to just go to the amusement park.

GO TO AN AMUSEMENT PARK OR FAIR WITH LOTS OF RIDES AND ride them have courage behind you the easiest way to over come the fear is to ride them when I was 10 I was Scared of roller coasters too! But when some friends got me to ride a big one I became a roller coaster fanatic on a miniture scale so ride a roller coaster or thrill ride and conquer your fear use peer pressure of your friends to get you to ride roller coasters
or thrill rides with them talk to them until that chain is heard or you are shot off by LIM or LSM to the sky!

hope I helped-CS

Oh, to bad, you are missing out on so much fun!! Take a small ride first, then start moving up. Take pride in facing your fears. Just keep trying. If you make it on even a kiddie ride, at least you are taking baby steps to get to the big fun rides! Hope you get over this so you can enjoy what the rest of us do!

The best way to get over a fear is to confront it. Go to the amusement parks and hang out over and over again until it becomes just another place. Perhaps you were killed on a roller coaster accident in another life.........or fell off the ferris wheel.........or was smushed between bumper cars.....

go to busch gardens in VA and ride the lochness monster roller coaster, and apollos chariot - if you survive, you'll never be afraid of them again, trust me, it worked for me and now i love them and coasters. but first, i'd recommend building your chest muscles first, then hen you go on the coaster, make a tight stomach during the drops to get used to them, but not too tight, it lessens the feeling a lot.
