Sometimes you're already married to the best person for the job. These days many couples meet at the workplace, so they already are familiar with each other's professional capabilities. Plus, trust or the ability to trust your co-worker is very hard to find or assess in a job interview. With a spouse its already there.

I would like to respond to this differently than everyone else is thinking..
The positive side of hiring a spouse rather than marrying one. is that you can fire it and not have the divorce and all of the commitments that go along with it.. If they don't satisfy what you are looking for you can just get rid of them. Sounds like a pretty good deal for me. that way you don't have to actually be hurt by the one who hired you.. because you are just doing a job.. doing what the person needs done. and you can set your own wages for what is expected of you.. Kinda like a real job. then you go home when you are done.. and you don't have to put up with all the bull that a marriage may bring or a dating thing will bring you will know up front what you are getting out of it what you have to do and when your time is up for the day.. Marriage your day is never done.
cute thought here huh?

A guy would hire his spouse for $ and tax purposes. It has very little to do with the relationship, if anything at all. If you hire your spouse you can take vacations to Hawaii and call them "business trips" on your taxes. You can take your wife out to dinner and write it off as a "business meeting". You can even give your wife a diamond ring (up to a certain dollar amount) and write it off as a business gift.!!! You can buy your wife that new car she has wanted and write it and all the expenses that come with it off as a business expense, instead of paying out of your pocket for it. Basically it allows you to have a lot more flexibility with your income and use the business to benefit your family. It has nothing to do with a guy trying to control his spouse.
It is all dollars and sense!

A guy would hire his own spouse if...she is looking for a job and is qualified for a position that he is hiring for. Why would the chicken cross the road?

most of the time when someone hires there own spouse it's to keep track of them. also it usualy never works out, because being with that person 24 hours of the day, gets to be to much.

I'd say it depends. I know of a woman who runs a graphic art place who sometimes hires her husband for photography. He is a good and well known photographer, so wouldn't it be weird if she used someone else?
