There's a definite progression in meaning from the first to the third verse, and I want to understand how the second verse bridges the gap.

Here's the verse in question:

Americano got the sleepy eye
But his body's still shaking like a live wire
Sleepy senorita with the eyes on fire

Here's what I think is going on with the other verses. The first verse sets the stage and makes you think the narrator just wants to relax on vacation. The third verse reveals that he's really trying to run away from his problems and family obligations.

He's speaking of needing a rest and finds it in Mexico where he feels as if he knew he was to be there, a place all too familiar.
