It is a Multi-faceted argument. Straight people have the right to marry anyone of the opposite sex they choose (certain restrictions apply, see local laws).

Homosexual people have the right to marry anyone of the opposite sex they choose (certain restrictions apply, see local laws).

It is not that gays want the same rights as straights, they already have that. They want extra rights and special treatment. The law has to apply equally to everyone. That is why the equal rights amendment failed years ago. The way it was written, it would have effectively legalized gay marriage, polygamy, bestiality, and any other wild ideas that anyone would have deemed their personal right.

Yes it is a huge waste of time AND tax payer money. So many states have said no to gay marriage, but they will not drop this agenda. It is a shame that the radical few have to make the entire gay population look bad. I have several gay friends, but they do not push this marriage ban in my face. IMHO, keep your "partner" like you are married. Have a civil "union" in a park, before God and family and act married.

Yes-I just heard some story on the news that this guy was suing his wife who had a sex change operation and became a man. He was paying her alimony. His argument was that since she became a man, and there is no marriage between homosexuals, he shouldn't have to pay.

I can see gays trying to get out of all kinds of divorce laws such as paying alimony and child support, even if marriage between them becomes legal.

Ask gays in Canada. I bet the will tell you NO! They are allowed to marry up here after a long long battle with courts and government.
