I washed it down with water immediately, so the stain disappeared. But the horrible smell is still present.

Sprinkle Baking Soda liberally over the affected area, leave overnight and hoover off. It's a natural deordoriser and wont stain your upholstery. You'll may have to repeat this a couple of times.

Sliced lemon over the area will also help to absorb the smell. Leave this on during the day if you can and use the baking soda at night. This worked for a friend who also spilt milk in her car.

same thing happened to me! it was terrible and couldn't get it to go away even after having the carperts professionally cleaned. what happens is, when you spill the milk, it goes through the carpet into the padding so now the sour smell is in the padding too. no way to get that out so the only thing you can do is rip the padding out from underneath the carpet.

to rip out the padding, you just lift up the carpet, then rip the padding out underneath and put the padding back. you can do this without any damage to the carpet, just go along the edges of the carpet to see where it's fastened down - usually a little screw and brace. takes those out, pull up the carpet, rip out the padding and mop up the milk residue that's probably on the metal, put the carpet back, reinsert the screws.

if it's in the back, probably not a big deal to rip the padding out as what it does is help dull outside sound, help insulate, etc. I had to rip mine out of the front passenger side and was really worried about the results. No one that ever sits there seems to notice so although it's a hassel, it's a lot better alternative to the stink.

Sprinkle baking soda on the spot the milk was spilled, leave on a few minutes and then vacuum up. I had the same problem when a gallon of milk leaked and after I used the baking soda trick twice, the smell was gone.

Go to a self cleaning car wash, and They should have a carpet cleaner machine with the right cleaners so you don't ruin the carpets in your car. It should not cost alot. or you could just take your car to a dealership and get a detail but that costs alot.
I hope this helps.

This is what i do. I pour carbonated water around the area of the spill than scrub the area hard with a brush or a towel. This works with all spills using dairy products.

My BF did this in his trunk.... We had to powerwash the hell out of the fabric at a car wash. Your best bet is to rent a steam cleaner from a grocery store and spray clean water on it...then suck it out... over and over...It's a pain... I know!

(Don't do the vinegar thing...it will stink like rotten milk and vinegar!)

Get rid of the car....

Bicarb of soda in a little pot in the car for a couple of days should do the trick.

Don't do Fabreeeze. Makes it worse

Go to the supermarket and rent a carpet cleaner. You need to steam clean that stuff out.
