When you say "confront" it sounds like you mean that the dog appears to be aggressive. If a stray is aggressive then I back away and leave it alone. If it appears to be friendly then I talk to it and see if I can convince it to approach me so I can find an owners id on it. Over the years I have "adopted" 4 strays that approached me this way and they all were good dogs.

If he was openly hostile, I would do my best to be non-confrontational. If her appeared open to a meeting of the species, I would get below his eye level to reduce my threat, and allow him to sniff my face, haie and hands. If he reacted in a friendly manner, then I would pet him.

If it's a friendly stray I usually end up taking it home. then try to find the owner.....if no one claims it I find it a good home!

I would try to get in my house or the car. If not I wouldn't run or move and hope it would walk on by me. If it came too me I would drop and cover my head and not yell and start praying it would go away.

Hmmm, Well First i would look at it to see if it looks mean or nice. If it looked clean and nice of course i would look for tags. And take it to a no-kill shelter. But if it looked mean and scruffy. I would mostly likely ignore it.

Smile and say nice doggy.

Try and see if it had a tag and call someone to pick it up

Either run, stand still, kick him, punch him, call the pound real quick, or play dead.

If it seems friendly, I try to pet it and talk to it, if not, then I move on.
