Apparently so! (I hope your - and my - realm wasn't affected!!)

Basically, players found a bug relating to the death of the boss, Hakkar, in the fairly new dungeon, Zul'Gurub. He infects the characters with a "corrupted blood" virus, which kills low level characters almost instantly, but which was naturally only supposed to have infected those at his corpse. They infected a player pet, and unleashed it in the middle of Orgrimmar, spreading the infection. NPCs were unaffected but carriers, so it went wild! Of course, now the debate is now whether this was intentional or not... The first realm affected was Archimonde, and at least two more were also definitely affected. They did rolling restarts of all the realms to try to resolve the problem, but apparently the plague is still cropping up in isolated pockets.

Actually, I wish I'd seen the effects - according the BBC's news report:
"Many online discussion sites were buzzing with reports from the disaster zones with some describing seeing "hundreds" of bodies lying in the virtual streets of the online towns and cities. "

I die in World of Warcraft all the time... But do you mean that some psycho was hunting people down in real life and killing people??

I would really doubt it. though it's not impossible, it's highly unlikely...
